Thomas M. Desmond Sr., age 85, of Penn Borough passed away on Thursday March 21, 2024 in his home. Tom was born on November 12, 1938 in Wilkinsburg the son of the late James and Margaret (Cole) Desmond. Tom was a retired mechanic with Franco Brick Contractor. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Cold War, a member of the Trafford American Legion Post #331 and their former Drill Team, a member of St. Barbara Church in Harrison City and was the Past President and member of the Penn Rod & Gun Club. In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years Nancy J. (Loutsenhizer) Desmond; his children Barbara Desmond, Tammy Haas (Christopher), Thomas M. Desmond Jr. (Denise); his grandchildren Michael Walker, Heather Yarrington, Brittanie Naff, Trista Desmond and Nicole Desmond; six great-grandchildren; his sister Colleen (Desmond) Smeltzer (Rome) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 4-7 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th Street (State Rt. 130) Trafford 412-372-3111. Parting prayers will be at 10:10 AM in the funeral home on Tuesday followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM in the St. Barbara Church, Harrison City with Fr. Michael Sikon as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in the Jeannette Memorial Park, Jeannette.
