Ruth B. Mohr Obituary

Ruth B. Mohr, age 91, of Level Green passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, in the Newhaven Court of Lindwood, Assisted Living Facility, Greensburg. Ruth was born on July 15, 1933, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Theodore and Mildred (Caskey) Blohm. Ruth retired from the Penn-Trafford School District as a teacher, and she was a member of the Level Green Presbyterian Church where she served as both deacon and elder. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband George R. Mohr in 2021 and her brother Theodore Blohm Jr. Ruth is survived by her children Neil R. Mohr (Su) of San Diego, California, and Diane Klingensmith (Dale) of Level Green; her grandchildren Jaison Klingensmith (Beth), Samantha Cole (John), and Katey Pearson (Bill); her great grandchildren Hanna, Amber and Nathan Klingensmith, Drake Pearson, and Lily Cole; and her sister Carol McGoldrick. Ruth met two best friends at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Ruth's lifelong friend Gwen and during her first weekend at college, she met the love of her life George. Both George and Ruth were pursuing Education credentials at IUP. Ruth and George married in 1955 after she completed her college degree and George completed college and his US Army service. Ruth taught at Level Green Elementary, mostly 1st grade, a mission that allowed her to positively influence so many children with her passion for learning. A vocation she loved, often talking fondly about her students, remembering all their stories and names. (plus, the artwork and crafts) George and Ruth raised their family in Level Green. In 1977, a heart attack nearly took George, but after recovery, they both took full advantage of their “extra time” to spend traveling and learning. George and Ruth were frequent attendees of Elderhostel education events and Chautauqua Institution learning. One travel trip took them to Hawaii, where they began a 20-year annual 3-month pilgrimage to Oahu. While in Hawaii they enjoyed entertaining family and friends, that is in between golf, sightseeing, and luaus, many times combining all. If not in Hawaii and spending time with family, or golfing with their Sweet Sixteen crew, they enjoyed travel throughout the US, river tours thru Europe and a special trip to China. As a family we have been blessed and smile each time we think of Mom joining Dad’s arms in the presence of the Lord. We thank the loving care of the team at Newhaven for their gentle care of Mom in the last years, and we thank Mom for the endless Love. Family and friends will be received for a memorial visitation on Wednesday May 7th from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th Street Rt. 130, Trafford (412-372-3111). A funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday May 8th in the funeral home with Pastor Geoff Rach officiating. A private burial for Ruth will take place with her husband George in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
