Robert J. Nowak, age 74, of N. Huntingdon passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital,Greensburg. Bob was born on October 12, 1948 in Braddock the son of the late John P. and Gladys M. (Campbell) Nowak. Bob was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked at several businesses over his career, which includes Westinghouse Electric (E. Pittsburgh), Robertshaw (Youngwood), Latrobe Brewing, and Bombardier (W. Mifflin). Always a jokester, Bob was a die-hard Steelers fan, followed world news and politics, enjoyed cooking, and loved vacationing with family and friends in OBX. He was a member of the American Legion Post 359 in Irwin, Pa. Bob was preceded in death by brothers James, George, John, Thomas Nowak and sister Elizabeth “Betty” Hoffman. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Ruth Ann (Derk) Nowak; daughter Jessica; grandson Jackson; sister Mary Lou Novak of Plainfield, IL; sisters-in-law Helen Nowak of Reading, Kathy Nowak of Level Green; brother-in-law James “Ed” Derk (Becky) of Latrobe; lifelong friend John Larkin (Patricia) of Monroeville; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital (Greensburg), AHN Healthcare@ Home, Forbes Regional Hospital, Allegheny Valley Hospital, DCI Dialysis Center (Hempfield), and Rescue 8 (N.Huntingdon) for his care over the last two years. At Bob’s request all funeral
services and the burial will be private. The John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7 th St. Trafford 412-372-3111 is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation https://www.kidney.org or Rescue 8 (N.Huntingdon).
