Patrick Anderson Obituary

Patrick F. “Sonny” Anderson, age 81, of Delmont, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2024 in his home.  Sonny was born on July 7, 1942 in Dayton, OH the son of the late Patrick F. and Marjorie Anderson.  Patrick was very industrious as a boy, having two paper routes, shoveling coal, painting fences and even babysitting.  At the age of 18 he went and served with the US Army and was stationed at the base at the Dachau, Germany Concentration Camp.  As an 18-year-old man this affected him greatly.  After the Army, he went back to Wellston where he made men’s pants at a pants factory.  His favorite joke was that at the end of each day he got to “drop his pants and run”!  He also had his own pizza shot in Wellston.  In the 1960’s, he then moved to Pennsylvania to work at Westinghouse in Trafford, where he was a welder for 20 years.  After Westinghouse closed, he worked at Woodhaven Care Center and AMI Doduco, from which he retired in 2004.  In 2005 he began driving children in a school van for A.J. Meyers, where he worked for 15 years.  Patrick was a man of strong faith who loved the Lord and was a member of the Christian Life Church for over 30 years.  Sonny held many volunteer positions in the community.  He was an EMT and on the Board of Directors for Murrysville Medic one for 50 years.  For many years he also worked as an auxiliary police officer for Murrysville, a member of the Murrysville Shelter Team and was a volunteer at Forbes Hospice.   In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his siblings Ronnie L. Anderson, Delores Ellers, James Weston, Mabel Thornton and an infant sister Wanda Anderson.  Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Sherry (Rosenal) Anderson; his son Nathan Haines; a brother Lonnie “Butch” Anderson; several nieces and nephews and his sweet fur baby Hannah. Sonny’s family would like to give a special thank you to the Angels at Bridges Hospice for his care.   Family and friends will be received on Saturday April 6, 2024 from 11 AM until 12 Noon in the Christian Life Church, 900 7th Street Ext., Trafford.  Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon in the church with Pastor Jared Parks officiating followed by a presentation of military honors.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the family to help offset expenses.  The John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th St. Trafford 412-372-3111 is assisting the family with arrangements.  www.dobrinickfhinc.com
