Noreen Ann (Fleming) Rogers Obituary

Noreen Anne Rogers (née Fleming), lovingly called “Nor” by her husband and remembered by many as the original “wild child,” passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. She was 71.

Born on New Year’s Eve, 1953, in Pittsburgh, PA, Noreen didn’t just arrive with fireworks—she was the fireworks. The daughter of Marian and James Fleming, she grew up in a house full of energy and love, a graduate from Franklin Regional High School she set off on a life defined by bold choices, big laughs, and an open heart.

Noreen served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1977, working as a Ground Radio Communication Equipment Repairman at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, where she achieved the rank of Senior Airman. After her service, she brought that same spark to the world of telecommunications at MCI in Texas and then Sprint in Pittsburgh. Later, she pivoted into retail—Hechingers, Lowe’s, and PetCo—where she turned regular customers into friends and coworkers into family, all with her fierce spirit and unforgettable charm.

She married the love of her life, Denzil Rogers, on October 7, 1978, in Houston, Texas. Together, they lived a life of laughter, deep connection, and spontaneous adventure for nearly five decades. Their partnership was rooted in love, music, and the occasional stubborn debate—always followed by a smile.

Noreen is survived by Denzil, her sons Matt (Bobbi Jo) and Josh (Kacy), and her adored grandchildren, Tyler and Paisley—who inherited her mischievous grin and boundless curiosity. She also leaves behind her sisters Deirdre, Marcy, Brenna, Shanna, and Siobhan, with whom she shared secrets, songs, and stories.

If you knew Noreen, you knew her laugh. You probably danced to her favorite Janis Joplin track, had a bowl of her famous chicken noodle soup, or found yourself wrapped in a conversation you didn’t want to end. She had the uncanny ability to light up a room, strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, and leave everyone feeling a little more seen and a little more loved.

She often joked that she “survived the ‘70s twice”—once as a wild child of the era, and again at the age of 70—and if that doesn’t sum her up, not much else will. She was proudest of her sons’ military service—one a Marine, one an Airman—both carrying her legacy of strength, heart, and grit.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday May 27, 2025 from 4-7 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th St. (State Rt. 130) Trafford 412-372-3111. There will be no formal service, but a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In true Noreen fashion:

Bring a story, a memory, a laugh.

And if you hear music? Let it play. Loud.

The Rogers family deeply thanks everyone who stood beside them through Noreen’s final days.

To honor her, live boldly. Laugh loudly. Love fiercely. And never, ever underestimate the power of a good porch fire and a great song.

“If you are a dreamer come in
If you are a dreamer a wisher a liar
A hoper a pray-er a magic-bean-buyer
If youre a pretender come sit by my fire
For we have some flax golden tales to spin
Come in!
Come in!”
