Michael “Big Mike” Steich, age 84, of Trafford passed away on Monday April 3, 2023 in the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Mike was born on January 6, 1939 in Juniata, PA the son of the late Peter and Mary (Herakovich) Steich. Mike was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Army and an active member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford. Big Mike loved to golf and was a member of a golf league at Irwin Country Club where he also worked in the Pro-shop. He was a member of the the CFU Lodge #541 and the American Legion Post #331 both of Trafford and Young at Heart. He worked as a machinist for Walworth Co. in Greensburg and retired from Leybold Heraus in Penn Twp. In addition to his parents Mike was preceded in death by his siblings Thomas, John, Peter, Paul and Nick Steich and Anne Bacon. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Charlotte M. (Trkula) Steich; his son Michael S. Steich (Mary Lynn) and his granddaughter Lillianna of Pittsburgh; his sister-in-laws Charlotte Bodnar and Evelyn Trkula and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-8 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th Street (State Rt. 130) Trafford 412-372-3111. Parting prayers will be at 10:00 AM in the funeral home on Tuesday followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the St. Regis Church with Fr. George Saletrik as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Young at Heart will hold a service in the funeral home on Monday at 3:30 PM.
