Kathryn A. (Grace) Capets, 80, of Trafford, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2023. She was born March 28, 1943, in Wilkinsburg, the daughter of the late James F. Grace Jr. and Velma (Bigler) Grace. She was a 1961 graduate of Penn Joint High School. Kathryn was a lifelong member and Eucharistic minister at St. Regis Catholic Parish. Her deep faith was evident in her loving service to family and community, whether it be teaching Catechism classes, acting as Cursillo Rector, or serving as a volunteer at the Trafford-Level Green Christian Food Bank; she gave her time and talents filled with the Spirit in all her days. Kathryn was an exceptional cook and baker, finding her greatest joy in preparing gourmet-like meals for her family and all those who came into her home to break bread. Impossible to replicate, her baked buns and cinnamon rolls were a favorite for many. She loved to open her home to the visits by the Dominican Sisters of the St. Cecilia Congregation as they passed through the area on pilgrimage. Not a month could go by without her children or grandchildren receiving a themed care package filled with her sugar cookies decorated for that month’s holiday, usually accompanied by a comic strip or newspaper clipping fittingly chosen for the recipients. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Victor V. Capets; her six children Christoper (Bernadette) Capets, Leah (Michael) Krupar, Andrew (Mariann) Capets, Victoria Rosen, Jill (Theodore) Hardek, and Sr. Mary Rachel Capets; grandchildren Kody Capets, Amanda (Blake) Butchas, Gabriel Krupar, Abigail Krupar, Joshua Capets, Jacob Capets, Benjamin Rosen, Jonathan Rosen, Tyler Hardek; step grandchildren William and Katie Hutchison; step great grandchild Keira Hutchison; sister Joy (James) Kuster, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th St. (State Rt. 130) Trafford 412-372-3111. Parting prayers will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Regis Church with Fr. George Saletrik as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Irwin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Trafford Level Green Christian Food Bank at 433 Cavitt Ave, Trafford, PA 15085.
