John M. Lovre Obituary
John M. Lovre, age 95, of Harrison City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. John was born on June 21, 1930 in Trafford the son of the late Pete and Mary (Benich) Lovre. John graduated from Trafford High School in 1948 where he lettered in football and basketball. He then went on to Clarion University in 1950 and was a four-year letterman starting at offensive and defensive end. He was named to Clarion’s All Time Great Team in 1962 and their Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. He was named to the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. He served with the US Army from 1953 until 1955. John was a teacher for 33 years at the Penn-Trafford High School, coaching football for two years and golf for 30 years. John was a member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Harrison City. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter Leslie Lovre King; and his siblings Marie Malovitz, Frank Lovre, Elmer Lovre, and Lillian Grgich. John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Evelyn (Mezerski) Lovre; his daughter Lori Burgman and husband Jack; his son-in-law Scott King; his grandchildren Alec and Will Burgman, Andy Lovre Smith and Sophia King; and a great-granddaughter Claire Burgman. Family and friends will be received on Friday June 5, 2026 from 10 AM until a funeral Mass at 11 AM in the St. Barbara Church, 111 Raymaley Rd, Harrison City, PA 15636 with Fr. Daniel Iletogbe as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Barbara Cemetery, Penn Twp. The John M.
