John Paul “Sonny” Badanjak, age 78, of Trafford passed away peacefully on his birthday on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in his home. Sonny was born on November 9, 1945 in Wilkinsburg, the son of the late John Paul and Mary (Baric) Badanjak. He retired as a computer analyst. Sonny was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Navy on the USS Vulcan. He was a member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford, Trafford American Legion Post #331, the St. John Kanty Lodge (Polish Club) in Trafford and White Buck Camp. Sonny was an avid Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan, and had a passion for golf, fishing, and pressing his luck at the casino. He cared deeply about friends and family and loved to socialize over a good drink. He is survived by his wife Lenore “Ginny” (Kosiba) Badanjak; his daughter Gloria Harville (husband Michael) of Philadelphia; his grandson Cameron Harville; and his brother Robert (Bob) Badanjak (wife Bev) of Albany, NY, and other family and friends. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th Street (State Rt. 130) Trafford 412-372-3111. Parting prayers of transfer will be held at 10 AM Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the St. Regis Church, Trafford. Interment with military honors will follow in the New St. Joseph Cemetery, N.
