Dorothy Ann Fails

Dorothy Ann Wallace Fails, age 90, died August 31, 2022. She was raised in Patton Township, daughter of the late Harry and Edyth Wallace, sister of the late Jack and Peggy Wallace. Dorothy married the late Donald Jackson Fails and raised 3 children in Pitcairn. Mother of Harry (Dian), Jimmy (late Maddie) Fails, and Dona (Marty) Galia. Dorothy was an active member of the Pitcairn women’s club for 59 years, a Boy Scout mother of troop 51 and the Pitcairn alumni and choir. She attended McGinnis Presbyterian and then Center Avenue United Methodist Churches. She loved planning and hosting church and family luncheons and dinners. Dorothy was famous for baking cookies, especially sugar cookies, making plastic and yarn crafts, decorating her house and wearing costume jewelry for each season and reading magazines. She loved taking pictures of family and friends and attending Memorial Day and 4th of July parades and assumed the role of writing the annual family Christmas letter. Dorothy enjoyed talking and arranging several group day trips by bus. She loved being a grandma to Shannon (Mike) Burkette, Colleen Fails, Olivia and Bennett Galia, and Maria (TJ) Houston and great grandma to Tyler Vogel, Makenzie and Haley Henning, and Mikey Burkette. She loved visits with her brother and nieces, and nephews in Waukegan and her brother-in-law and nieces and nephews in Saltsburg. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4-8 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home, Inc., 702 7th St., (State Route 130) Trafford, 412-372-3111.
