Donald J. Cannillo

Donald J. Cannillo, 68, of West Newton, passed away at Allegheny General Hospital on Wednesday, January 29,2025. He was born on September 7, 1956 at Columbia Hospital in Wilkinsburg, the son of the late Dominic and Velma Cannillo. He survived by his wife, Mara (McKenzie) Cannillo; his stepson, Ryan; his granddaughter Macy; his sister, Darlene Cannillo of Swissvale, his brother, John Cannillo and sister-in-law Deborah Carder; his nephew Addison Carder-Cannillo all of New Hampshire; his brother-in-law Tom, and sister-in-law Betty of MD, and his mother-in-law Rose McKenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews.   

In addition to his parents Don was preceded in death by his father-in-law Arthur McKenzie, his brothers-in-law Rick and Jeff McKenzie

Don was a graduate of Penn-Trafford High School in 1974, after which he followed in his father’s footsteps working in construction and operating heavy equipment. In the later stages of his career, he served as project supervisor on a variety of gas line/energy projects in western Pennsylvania and Maryland. He enjoyed keeping up on current events and watching sports, where he was a life- long fan of the Steelers. He was a lover of vegetable gardening, where he took pride in his yearly harvest of tomatoes, and the planning of landscaping projects around his home.

In respect of Don’s wishes, no visitation or funeral services will be held. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at a future date and to be determined.
