Donald J. Ammon Sr, 86, of Trafford, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 10, 2023. He was born June 25, 1936, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Wilbur and Cecilia (Henkel) Ammon. Donald worked at Westinghouse, the Allegheny County Housing Authority and as Maître d’ at the Igloo Club during all Pittsburgh Penguin home games. Donald was preceded in death by his sisters Coletta and Dorothy Lee as well as his daughter-in-law Becky. Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years Josephine (Cimprich) Ammon; his four children Joseph of N. Versailles, Denise of Trafford, Donald Joseph Jr. (Paul) of Monroeville, and Robert (Tracy) of Dormont; grandchildren Ian (Claire), Carl, Adrienne (Shawn), Caleb, Jude, and Noah; and his sisters Joan (Jim), Mary Jean (George), Judy (John) and Patricia (George) and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice, especially his nurse Claire and aide Cindy, for the care and attention they provided to Donald and his family. Family and friends wll be received on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th St. (State Rt. 130) Trafford 412-372-3111. Parting prayers will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM in the St. Regis Church with Fr. George Saletrik as celebrant.
