Lois J. Shay

Lois J. Shay age 86 of Trafford passed away on Monday July 1, 2019 in the Golden Heights Personal Care Home; Penn Twp. Lois was born on November 27, 1932 in Pitcairn the daughter of the late John Clare and Thelma (Keller) Hysong.  Lois graduated from Indiana Teachers College (IUP) and retired as an elementary school teacher with 35 years of service with the Penn-Trafford School District. After retirement, Lois worked as support staff for James Tobin DMD, for 10 years.  Lois was a former member of the Pitcairn UMC, where she was an organist.  She currently was a member of Christian Life Church in Trafford. Lois served as a deaconess, the Director of Christian Education, Sunday School Teacher, Missionette Mom, Choir Member, Board Member, and went on many mission trips to Mexico.  Lois is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert V. Shay Sr. whom she met in the third grade; her son Robert V. Shay Jr. (Vera), her daughter Susan Hand (Tim), daughter of the heart Connie Jo Shay; her two grandchildren Sarah Braithwaite (Eric) and Noah Hand; her great-grandchildren Jack and Ellie Braithwaite.  She will fondly be remembered as a prayer warrior, a knitting queen making many baby blankets and cross stitch projects, her infamous high heels and her infectious laugh.  Family and friends will be received on Friday from 3-8 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc., 702 7th Street (State Rt. 130) Trafford 412-372-3111.  Additional visitation will be Saturday from 10 AM until 10:45 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at Christian Life Church, 900 7th St. Ext. Trafford with Pastor Gary Simpson officiating.  Everyone please go directly to the church Saturday. Interment will follow in the Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, N. Huntingdon.     www.dobrinickfhinc.com
