Sylvester "Babe" Balanti

Sylvester "Babe" Balanti age 86 of Level Green passed away on Monday March 20, 2017 in Manor Care of Monroeville. Babe was born on October 5, 1930 the son of the late Hugo and Jean (Mazzoni) Balanti. Babe was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the Air Force. He retired from Prudential Life Insurance Company as a sales manager, and worked at McDain's Golf Center after retirement. Babe was a devout Catholic and active member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford, a charter member of the church's Pastoral Council, an usher and money counter. Babe was a lifetime member of the Elk Lodge in Braddock, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a semi-pro bowler, avid golfer and loved to shoot pool. Above all Babe was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and he was always proud of his family. Babe was preceded in death by his grandson Cameron Comito. Babe is survived by his wife of 65 years Marion (Capaccione) Balanti; his children Linda Ruffo (Frank), Lorraine Comito (Ralph), Barbara Morris (Todd), Robert Balanti (Hope) and Marilyn Rauso (Richard); his grandchildren Melissa Beyer (Chris), Michael Ruffo, Christopher Comito (Shelley), Broderick and Hayden Balanti , Matthew and Daniel Rauso; his great-grandchildren Dominic and Francesca Beyer, Madison, Leah, Megan and Lindsay Comito ; his siblings Ed Balanti (Carol) and Virginia Osley (John) and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc. 702 7th St. (St. Rt. 130) Trafford (412) 372-3111. Parting prayers will be at 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10AM in the St. Regis Church Trafford with Fr. David Nazimek as celebrant.
